The straw has been loaded around the porch to be stacked as the walls.
Using a machine called a “squeeze”, it was unloaded off of the trailer.
The walls go up on the 29th. Exciting!
Straw bales
This is 32,000 pounds of straw. These will be one the outside walls of the house. A slurry of mud and clay will be sprayed on them and the final mud wi he placed on in the spring. Hopefully, we can get them stacked all in one weekend!!
Venom
Venom arrived today from Sarah G. She is such a lovely doll and I have been trying to get her for a long time. I just love her little pouty face. She is a wonderful asset to my colle collection.
Windows!

Shelves
Added shelves in the courtyard wall from natural rocks from the area.
Dinner and Sulu
I saw George Takei at the Thai restraint in Show Low tonight. The waiter was saying he lives up here. Weird, thought he’d live in a more liberal state.
Dinner in the new house
Tonight, the neighbors came over for dinner. We have the grill set up in the new kitchen even though there are no walls. We bbq’ed and sat around and talked, it was a lot of fun.
We had two tables set up for seven adults and one kid with plenty of room to spare. It will be a nice sized kitchen, even with a large table. There will be an island in there, but even with that, there will be plenty of room. I can’t wait to have a large kitchen with lots of room to cook and move around.
It was nice being able to socialize a bit and be able to talk and listen to other peoples stories. I had a good time.
Rock wall
Status update on the courtyard wall. Slowly but surely the rock face is going up. It will look nicely paired with the garden to give it a natural look. When asked about the walk, the Puggy said, “its a pain in the ass!” But then went on to say he was planning to put in rock shelves. Overall, I think he’s pleased.
The sky!
The monsoon does cool things to the sky here. Beautiful pinks and purples scattered throughout the clouds. Then all of a sudden, this happens.
The darkness comes and along with it a feeling of smallness, of dread. This storm system rained on us for a bit, but it was short-lived.
Nature is wonderful.
